The AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (ACTU) at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking HIV-1 and Hepatitis C co-infected individuals over the age of 18 to participate in a research study. The study will look at a new treatment for people with insulin resistance who have not responded to previous peginteferon/ribavirin therapy. To qualify you must have a CD4 count ¡Ý200, have HCV genotype 1 virus, currently on stable HIV treatment for 12 weeks or no treatment, and are Hepatitis A or B negative.
The study will last about one and a half years and will involve about 20 outpatient visits. Actos, peginterferon and ribavirin will be provided through the study.
You will receive $20.00 per study visit as well as reimbursement for parking and transportation.
