• The Role of the Mineralocorticoid Receptor in Diabetic Cardiovascular Disease
Do you know that diabetes may injure the kidneys, heart, and blood vessels?
The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Hypertension at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital is testing a medicine that may reduce these damaging effects of diabetes. We seek men and women ages 18-64 with type 2 diabetes for a research study that will last 7 to 9 months. The study requires multiple visits to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and includes blood sampling, study medication, MRI and PET scans of the heart. Compensation up to $1,000.

About Type 2 Diabetes:
Type 2 diabetes is a metabolic disorder resulting from the body's inability to make enough, or to properly use, insulin. It used to be called non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM).
Without adequate production or utilization of insulin, the body cannot move blood sugar into the cells. It is a chronic disease that has no known cure. It is the most common type of diabetes, accounting for 90 to 95 percent of diabetes cases.
