• The Role of PTH in Low Bone Mass in Anorexia Nervosa
Are you a woman who has low body weight? Do you have anorexia nervosa?

The Neuroendocrine Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking women with anorexia nervosa who are 35-70 years old and who do not take any hormones for a research study. We are studying the use of a natural hormone as a treatment for bone loss.

The study includes eight outpatient visits over the course of six months.

Participants receive physical examinations, nutritional analyses, hormonal evaluations, blood tests, and measurements of bone density. Either a natural hormone or a placebo (contains no active ingredients) will be administered. There is no cost for participation in the study, and participants will receive up to $525 compensation. Parking and/or public transportation costs will be reimbursed.

For more information or to find out if you’re eligible to participate, please contact Pouneh Fazeli, MD at 617-726-1347 or pkfazeli@partners.org.
