• Individual Differences in Physiological Responses to Pain
This is a study of immune system responses to sensory
stimulation, including pain. The study includes 2 visits, lasting about 3
hours. You may be eligible if you are between 40-70 years old, are either
generally healthy, or have rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, or
osteoarthritis, do not have a serious heart condition or certain other
medical conditions, are not taking certain types of medications, and are
not pregnant. The study includes blood draws, and evaluates peoples’
immune system responses to sensory stimuli such as pressure, heat and
cold. There is no cost to you for any of the procedures and payment up
to $250.00 is provided. The research takes place at the Brigham &
Women’s Pain Management Center, 850 Boylston St, Chestnut Hill or
the Center for Clinical Investigation, 221 Longwood, Boston. For further
