• Maternal Outcomes and Neurodevelopmental Effects of Antiepileptic Drugs
Are You Pregnant?
We are looking for volunteers to participate in a research study in women who are currently pregnant. You may be eligible if you meet the following criteria for one of the groups below:

Women with Epilepsy should:
- be between 18-45 years old
- have a diagnosis of epilepsy
- be less than 20 weeks pregnant

Healthy Women should:
- be between 18-45 years old
- be in good general health
- be less than 20 weeks pregnant

The research study will be conducted at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. You and your child’s participation will involve 11 study visits and 9 telephone calls and your child’s development will be followed closely up until 3 years old. Each visit is different. Things that happen over 3 years include:

For you: interviews, brief physical and neurological exams, blood draws, and completion of self-report diaries.

For your baby: Brief physical and neurological exams, full developmental assessments, and one blood draw (babies born to mothers with epilepsy only).

Participation will not change your current medical treatment and will be of no cost to you.
