- The PhenoGenetic Project
THE PHENOGENETIC PROJECT
Purpose:
Healthy study volunteers are needed for a five-year of study of the relationship between genes and the immune system at Brigham and Women’s hospital. By studying the blood and DNA of many healthy people, we hope to better understand the function of the healthy immune system and the extent of variation in immune function found in healthy individuals.
What is involved?
The initial visit will consist of filling a health questionnaire and giving a blood sample. Blood pressure, height and weight will also be measured. Thereafter, follow-up visits will be scheduled up to four times a year for five years, and blood samples will be drawn at each visit. Blood pressure, height and weight will also be measured at each visit. A follow-up health questionnaire will be filled once a year during one of the scheduled visits. Subjects will receive $50 for the first visit and $25 for each additional visit.
Who is eligible to participate?
We ask you to join our research study if you:
· Are between the ages of 18 and 50 years old
· Are willing to donate blood up to four times a year for five years
· Do NOT have chronic metabolic disease such as diabetes or thyroid disease, a chronic infectious diseases such as hepatitis C or HIV, or an autoimmune disease such as Lupus or thyroiditis.
